Yuki Takahashi to stand in for Camier at Spanish Round
Whilst Leon Camier’s recovery continues, the former Grand Prix race winner will be replacing him at the Acerbis Spanish Round
After his injury at the Pirelli Italian Round, Leon Camier (Moriwaki Althea Honda Racing) will miss track action at Jerez, the sixth round of the 2019 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship. The British rider, who lies 15th in the championship, has had a tricky year so far, with just one top ten before this latest set-back.
Despite recovering well and feeling considerably less pain in his injured left shoulder, Camier feels that he requires a bit more recuperation time is needed. His replacement for the Acerbis Spanish Round is former Grand Prix rider and race winner, Yuki Takahashi, who will be looking to put his experience into practice at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto.
Speaking of his absence, Leon Camier stated: “I’m obviously very disappointed to have to sit out the test in Misano and the Spanish round and miss the chance to continue working on our bike’s setup and development. Anyway, we are where we are, and we must accept it, considering that the shoulder joint is a complex one and it’s only normal that the ligament damage takes some time to heal.
“Having said that, my recovery is going well and steadily so everything’s on track. The pain is gradually lessening, and my movement is improving, so we’ll wait and see how the situation is prior to the Misano round.”
